The Celtic Flame Pipe Band is a non-profit organization
dedicated to promoting the Scottish cultural arts through
musical performance and competition.
Celtic Flame is a
small but dedicated group of bagpipers and drummers, made up
of musicians of all ages from Northeast Ohio. The band
continues to work hard and grow as a successful competition
pipe band and enjoys playing music together.
Founded in
the Fall of 1999 by former members of the Crag Dhe Cead and
MacCallum Highlanders pipe bands and students of Pipe Major
Marilyn Lloyd, Celtic Flame was a colorful sight in their
first year (as members wore an assortment of tartans from
various clans and former bands as they saved for band
kilts.) |
The band later invested in musical instruments and
uniforms (purchasing Buchanan tartan kilts) and added several
new members in their second year. Soon, the band began to
perform at several events throughout their Northeastern Ohio
area, while working diligently to improve as an
ensemble.
Under the direction of Pipe Major Marilyn Lloyd, Pipe
Sergeant Tom Mason, and
Drum Instructor Dominic
Tancredi, the band continues to expand their repertoire
and entered the competition circuit in Grade 5 in 2005. |
